Glendora Village's Fall Calendar Now Has Two Kitchens Set to Its Clock

Where do you go for a proper sit-down dinner in Glendora on a Friday night once the Village shops close?

A few years ago, the answer for one Glendora couple was a drive out of town. Paloma Ramos told What Now Los Angeles that after she and her husband moved to Glendora about six years ago, "there was a family-friendly date-night restaurant missing," so nights out meant "Downtown LA, which is really far, or Pasadena or Claremont." Their answer was to open a restaurant on Glendora Avenue themselves. Another restaurant opened a few doors up the same year.

Look at the Village's calendar from now through December next to these two restaurants' posted hours. The farmers market, the Holiday Stroll, the parade and Santa's visits all land on weeknight evenings and Saturdays, and those are the hours both new kitchens are built around. This season, a Village event and a sit-down meal can share the same block and the same evening.

Two new dining rooms on N. Glendora Ave.

Chase's Restaurant has been part of Old Town La Verne since 2011. In April, What Now Los Angeles reported that Chase's would expand for the first time, to 216 N. Glendora Ave. The Glendora location now appears on Chase's own site beside the original on Bonita Avenue, with posted hours seven days a week. The space has a long history as a restaurant. On July 7, 2026, Glendora's Planning Commission voted 4–0 to approve CUP26-0001 for Suite 100. It allows a Type 47 on-sale general license and entertainment with the restaurant, and it replaces a permit for the site that dates to 2007. In 2017, the San Gabriel Valley Tribune profiled Luca Bella Fine Foods at the same address.

The menu is clearly Chase's, with some Glendora touches. The Glendora menu lists Chile Verde Madness with smoked pork and over-medium eggs, Tina's Chilaquiles on house-made tortilla chips, and Chix & Waffles at $21, made with cornflake-crusted chicken and bacon maple syrup. For dinner, Chase's has long served steaks, burgers, seafood, meatloaf, risotto and BBQ plates, and it serves brunch on weekends.

Mama Canela is a Tex-Mex kitchen run by Paloma and Javier Ramos at 147 N. Glendora Ave. The menu reflects her husband's roots in Texas and her family's history running Mexican restaurants in the San Gabriel Valley. Mama Canela's site leads with "sizzling fajitas, enchiladas, queso and fresh tortillas." The owners planned a room that changes over the course of the evening. It starts out upbeat and family-friendly with live music, then becomes a quieter date-night spot later on. The restaurant applied for a conditional use permit to allow beer and wine sales for on-site consumption. Hoodline reported that the Planning Commission approved that permit, PLN24-0047. It also described the corridor as one that "leans heavily on daytime traffic."

So the street now has two licensed restaurants, both planned for evenings, at a time when the Village's own calendar is filling its evenings too.

The calendar, hour by hour

The hours below come from each restaurant's site. Event times come from the City of Glendora, the Glendora Chamber of Commerce and the Glendora Village business district.

Village event When Chase's, 216 N. Glendora Ave. Mama Canela, 147 N. Glendora Ave.
Farmers market Wednesdays, 5–9 p.m. Open 11 a.m.–9 p.m. Open 11 a.m.–10 p.m., kitchen closes 9 p.m.
Halloween Walk Fri., Oct. 30, 10 a.m.–2 p.m. Opens 11 a.m. Opens 11 a.m.
Holiday Stroll & Tree Lighting Fri., Nov. 20, 6–9 p.m. Open until 10 p.m. Open until 11 p.m., kitchen closes 10 p.m.
Santa in the Village Sat., Dec. 5, 12 and 19, 5–7 p.m. Open until 10 p.m. Open until 11 p.m., kitchen closes 10 p.m.
Glendora Christmas Parade Sat., Dec. 12, 9 a.m.–noon Opens 10 a.m. Opens 11 a.m.

The table shows two kinds of timing. The evening events overlap fully with both dining rooms. The daytime events start before either door opens.

Wednesdays: the market and dinner end at the same time

The Glendora Village Farmer's Market runs every Wednesday from 5 to 9 p.m. on Glendora Avenue between Foothill Boulevard and Bennett Avenue, with certified produce, local artisans and live music. The Glendora Business Improvement District presents it in collaboration with Public Communities. The city's event listing shows the next dates as November 4, November 11 and November 18.

On a Wednesday, Chase's closes at 9 p.m., and Mama Canela's kitchen stops taking orders at 9 p.m. even though its doors stay open until 10. Anyone who plans to browse the stalls until closing and then go to dinner will find both kitchens closing at the same moment. Dinner fits best in the middle of the market, with produce shopping before or after. Mama Canela's last open hour after 9 is the one part of a Wednesday that runs past the market.

Friday, October 30: the walk starts before the kitchens open

The Glendora Village Halloween Walk is tomorrow, Friday, October 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Chamber lists it at 224 N. Glendora Ave. It is a midday, weekday event, unlike most of the season.

Both restaurants open at 11 a.m. on Fridays, so the first hour of the walk happens before either one is serving. Families who arrive at 10 can walk the street first, and both dining rooms are open for the last three hours of the walk. Lunch fits naturally after the walk rather than before it.

Friday, November 20: the restaurants stay open after the event

The Glendora Village Holiday Stroll & Tree Lighting runs from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, November 20, with the tree lighting at 6:30 p.m. in the Village Plaza. The Chamber's listing also mentions Village shops, Santa photos and music.

This is the one night this fall when both restaurants stay open past the event. Fridays are their longest nights. Chase's serves until 10 p.m., and Mama Canela keeps its kitchen open until 10 and its doors until 11. Families with small children can see the 6:30 lighting and go to an early table. Adults who want the later, quieter date-night room the Ramoses described have two hours after the Stroll ends.

December's Saturdays: brunch in the morning, Santa at night

December moves the Village calendar to Saturdays. Santa in the Village sits in the Glendora Village Plaza from 5 to 7 p.m. on December 5, 12 and 19. The Glendora Christmas Parade starts in the Village on Saturday, December 12, from 9 a.m. to noon, according to the Glendora Chamber of Commerce calendar.

That puts two events on December 12. Of the two restaurants, Chase's fits that day best. It opens at 10 a.m. on Saturdays, an hour into the parade, and its weekend brunch has historically included benedicts, French toast and mimosas. Mama Canela opens at 11 a.m. on Saturdays, as the parade winds down, and stays open until 11 p.m. with its kitchen closing at 10. That covers the 5 to 7 p.m. Santa visit that same evening. On December 5 and 19, when Santa's visits are the only event, both kitchens are open for hours before and after.

The one day the calendar doesn't cover

There are no Village events on Mondays, and the two restaurants differ that day. Mama Canela is closed on Mondays. Chase's is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays are shorter at both places. Chase's closes at 8 p.m., and Mama Canela closes at 9 p.m. with its kitchen stopping at 8.

The Martindale Group's office is on N. Glendora Ave., so this stretch of the Village is our neighborhood too, and we keep track of what opens, what changes hands and what the city approves on these blocks. If you own a home near the Village and want to talk about what a busier evening corridor means for your next move, The Martindale Group is a short walk from the market stalls.
